Make a gift of publicly traded securities to CPC and potentially save income tax and capital gains tax, too.
A gift of publicly traded securities could be right for you if:
You own publicly traded securities that you have owned for at least one year.
Some of these securities have increased in value since you bought them.
Tax benefits of contributing publicly traded securities:
You can save income tax and capital gains tax when you give shares of a publicly traded security that you have owned for a year or more.
* Please notify CPC at give@cpcdanville.org when the transfer is made to let us know the number of shares and ticker symbol and fund designation (e.g. General Fund). In addition, note that it may take four to five business days from the time your broker initiates a stock transfer to CPC until the settlement date when the proceeds are credited to CPC’s account and are recognized as a gift.
You can make a gift to CPC via a donor-advised fund (DAF).
What is a DAF?
A DAF is a simple, flexible, and tax-advantageous way to make a charitable donation. DAFs allow donors to contribute funds to a charitable account and receive an immediate tax deduction and recommend grants to their chosen nonprofits over time.
How do DAF’s work?
DAFs can be easily set up through your financial institution or a community foundation to serve as a flexible charitable giving vehicle. You initiate the designation of a single grant or a recurring grant (monthly, quarterly, or annually) to CPC through your charitable account organization. Giving through your donor-advised fund is a powerful way to help CPC.
Note: Individual situations vary, so donors should consult their financial advisors.
If you make a gift to CPC via a donor-advised fund please keep in mind that your tax receipt will be issued by the fund, not by CPC.
If you wish to make a gift toward a pledge, please be sure to notify the donor-advised fund so that we know how to record the gift as such.
CPC’s tax ID is: 94-1375814
You can make a tax-free gift with a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA.
You must be at least 70½ years old to take advantage of this opportunity and you can contribute up to $100,000 each year from your IRA account to a qualified charity.
Please check with your IRA administrator or your tax advisor for more information.
Numerous organizations provide their employees with the opportunity to contribute to charitable
causes through payroll deductions, frequently matching these contributions dollar for dollar. To
find out if your company has a matching gift initiative, consult your Human Resources
department. CPC is recognized as a tax-exempt entity by the IRS under section 501(c)(3).
LEGACY is a 3-year giving initiative aimed to accelerate our mission: Reaching People and Following Jesus.

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
Why We Give
At CPC, we believe generosity is a response to God’s generosity toward us. Everything we have is a gift from Him, and giving is one of the primary ways we express gratitude, trust, and worship. Scripture reminds us that stewardship is not simply about managing resources—it’s about the posture of our hearts and our relationship with God.
When we give, we practice seeing all that we have through the lens of God’s provision and purpose. That’s why we encourage giving the first 10% as a starting point—an intentional way to put God first, trust Him with our resources, and align our lives with what matters most. Generosity isn’t just about money; it’s about gratitude, obedience, and living out our faith in tangible ways.
The Apostle Paul reminds us:
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6–7
When we give, we’re investing in something bigger than ourselves—helping others, supporting our community and making a positive difference. Your generosity supports people, ministries, and missions that are making a real difference in our Valley and around the world.
When you give to CPC, you are giving through CPC. Because of your faithfulness, lives are being changed, needs are being met, and new opportunities are being created to share the love of Christ. Together, we get to be part of what God is doing—today and for generations to come.
