They are a family friendly community where the teachers, staff, and families partner to create a safe, welcoming environment for our students to learn and thrive. SAN FRANCISCO CITY IMPACT
Location: San Francisco
Type of work: Meet and serve residents living in isolation in the low-income buildings in the Tenderloin.  
Volunteers needed: as many as are interested
Ideal for: youth and adults 
Time Commitment: 2pm to 4:30pm

Bring Residents food, friendship and prayer. Only roughly one square mile in size with over 28,000 residents, the Tenderloin is plagued by poverty, crime, addiction, mental health issues, and an oversized homeless population. In 2020, SFCI served 50,804 people, served over 40,155 meals, and distributed nearly 5,940 bags of groceries. Let's join them and continue the good work.

At Shepherd’s Gate, we know it takes more than a few nights of food and shelter to truly change a life. In order to help women and children escape cycles of addiction, homelessness, and abuse, and to find lasting change, we must care for the whole person. Our Christ-centered long-term residential program offers a comprehensive approach to addressing the physical, spiritual, emotional, educational, and social needs of women that desire to transform their lives and live independently in the community. We help adult women of all ages – single or mothers with children.
