Every year during spring break we invite our 8th to 12th grade students to join us for a week-long trip to northern Mexico to build homes for families living in extreme poverty. This trip is one of the most impactful and transformative experiences we offer our students. After missing this experience for the past two years we are very excited to be returning to Mexico to make a life-changing difference for families in need and to give our students a life-changing experience of serving others! CPC has been partnering with Amor Ministries to run this mission trip since as early as 1991, and in that time we have been able to bless over a hundred families with new homes. After missing a couple years, we are very excited to be returning. Here's a look at our most recent trip:

TRIP DETAILS

  • Tentative Date/Time for free COVID Testing Event at CPC: Tuesday March 29th 3:00-6:00 PM at CPC
  • Mandatory Mexico Team Meeting: Sunday March 20th at 12:30 pm at CPC. Students and parents are asked to join us for this training and trip preparation meeting.
  • COVID Requirements: A 10-day health log must be completed leading up to the trip and proof of a negative COVID test within 5 days of our arrival in Mexico will be required for every participant regardless of vaccination. Vaccination will NOT be required for participation on this trip. At this time neither proof of vaccination nor a COVID test are needed to cross the border for US citizens traveling by land with a US Passport. And our work in Mexico has been deemed "essential" by the Mexican government.
  • Passports: A CURRENT US Passport is required to join us on this trip. Please check your expiration date right away. If you do not have a passport or yours is expiring this year, please begin the process to get your passport IMMEDIATELY at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html 
  • Passport Handling: This is the most important item a student brings on this trip. Therefore, we will be collecting all student passports prior to the trip and holding them until border crossings. Please bring student passports to the MANDATORY MEXICO TEAM MEETING on SUNDAY MARCH 20th at 12:30 PM at CPC.
  • Departure: Saturday April 2nd from CPC, check-in opens at 8:00 AM
  • Return: Friday April 8th at CPC, between 11:00 pm and midnight, depending on delays at the border crossing
  • Destination: Northern Mexico, just a few miles south of the San Diego border between the cities of Tijuana and Tecate
  • Project: Building homes for families in need

  • Cost: $595 per student. We are asking students to pay or raise this portion of the cost. The actual cost per student is significantly higher than this but we intend to raise additional funds to keep the cost per student this low. Please consider how you might raise support for your portion among your own network of friends, family members, and fans! As always, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WILL BE AVAILABLE. We simply ask that you try to reach out for sponsors in your own network first. Thanks to the generosity of our church community, our policy is that no student ever misses a trip for financial reasons.

STEP 3: Payments. The full cost we are asking each student to cover is $595 this year. Partial payments or a series of payments are accepted. STEP 4: Amor Ministries Participant DocuSign Form. This is a two step process! The student participant completes and signs this electronic form first, and then the parent completes their portion once they receive an email link sent from the completion of the student portion. This form includes a COVID-19 liability waiver. STEP 5: Amor Ministries 10-Day Health Log. Please keep log on this form of the required wellness criteria from March 24th through April 2nd, the day we leave for this trip. YOU MUST BRING THIS FORM WITH YOU ON APRIL 2nd!

STEP 6: COVID Test. You will need to provide proof of a negative COVID test within 5 days of our arrival in Mexico (Between Tuesday March 29 and Friday April 1). We have tentatively scheduled to host a free COVID Testing Event at CPC on Tuesday March 29th between 3:00 and 6:00 pm. This will be a drop-in event, no appointment or registration needed. You must bring proof of your negative test results with you on April 2nd!

INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING: We strongly encourage each student to reach out to their own network of friends, family, and fans to raise support to cover their $595 portion of the trip cost! Many people who know our students personally would actually love to be a part of what they are doing on this mission trip -even though they might never be able to join us on the trip itself. Those who want to encourage our students and partner with them can give a tax-deductible charitable gift to count toward that student's portion of the trip cost through our online payment form. We encourage students to write a personal note or email to family members, friends of their family, coaches, and other supportive adults to share what this trip is about and their excitement for joining it.
