The amended Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were approved Amendments to The Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were required to remove all references to the Presbytery of San Francisco and the Presbyterian Church (USA) as agreed to in the terms of dismissal. Vote by Presbytery of San Francisco
On Tuesday, November 9, 2010, the Presbytery of San Francisco voted to accept CPC's request to be dismissed from PC(USA) to the EPC. We thank God for His continued blessings and answered prayers and we are grateful to the San Francisco Presbytery for honoring our request. It's wonderful to know that we all remain a part of the Body of Christ.
IMPORTANT STEPS REMAINING
Please continue to keep the Gracious Dismissal Process in your prayers as we have several important steps remaining before CPC can be released to join the EPC.
November 10, 2010
90-Day Waiting Period Begins
The effective date of CPC's dismissal is Wednesday, November 10th which also begins a 90 day waiting period. Requests for remedial actions, stays and appeals may be submitted during this time, which could delay CPC's affiliation with the EPC.
February 2, 2011
Complaint Filed
On February 2, 2011, which was within the 90 day waiting period for complaints to be filed, we were notified that a complaint had been received against the SF Presbytery. Consequently we were unable to fully implement the terms of dismissal and transition to the EPC which was scheduled for February 9, 2011.
NEXT STEPS
The complaint has been processed through the PC(USA) judicial order. As a result of the trial held before the Permanent Judicial Commission (PJC) of the Synod of the Pacific, PC(USA) on March 22, 2012, the PJC has rejected the remedial complaint filed against the Presbytery of San Francisco in the case of our dismissal to the EPC. They ordered that the November 9, 2010 action of the Presbytery to dismiss CPC pursuant to the Gracious Dismissal Policy Terms of Dismissal be upheld.
This is a milestone in our move to the EPC. The complainants can appeal the decision to the next higher court, but their intentions are unknown. Please continue to bathe the process in prayer as we move forward to finalize our dismissal to the EPC.
”The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness to all who keep His covenant and obey His demands." Psalm 25:10
