Important News about CPC's Affiliation with PCUSA
In the past year, CPC has been engaged in a process to be dismissed from the PC(USA) to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). On September 12, 2010 CPC members overwhelming voted to request dismissal from the PC(USA) and on November 9, 2010 the Presbytery of San Francisco voted by a significant majority to approve our dismissal.
On February 2, 2011, which was within the 90 day waiting period for complaints to be filed, we were notified that a complaint had been received against the Presbytery of San Francisco. Consequently we were unable to fully implement the terms of dismissal and transition to the EPC which was scheduled for February 9, 2011.
The complaint is being processed through the PC(USA) judicial order. The Presbytery of San Francisco has appointed a Committee of Counsel (CoC) to represent them and on April 27, 2011 it filed a response denying the complaint. Representatives from CPC have met with and provided input to the CoC, and have offered to provide further support to the CoC. The trial of the remedial case by the Permanent Judicial Commission (PJC) of the Synod has been scheduled for September 15. We will continue to keep the CPC congregation informed. The timeline moving forward is as follows:
- September 15, 2011 - The trial date of the remedial case by the Permanent Judicial Commission (PJC) of the Synod of the Pacific
PLEASE NOTE: This trial date has been delayed. Please read Pastor Scott Farmer's letter sent September 13, 2011.

Additional Background
On February 2, 2010 CPC’s Session unanimously voted to initiate a process, which will allow CPC to be graciously dismissed from the PCUSA “Gracious Dismissal Process SF Presbytery” and seek affiliation with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). See below "CPC's Communications and Resources to the Congregation" for information shared to date.
You are encouraged to contact us if you have additional questions or comments about the vote or next steps moving forward. Please contact a Pastor or an Elder:
The EPC is a denomination formed in 1981 and had its beginning in the Reformation under John Calvin (1509-1564). The Constitution of the EPC consists of the Book of Order (comprised of The Book of Government, The Book of Discipline and The Book of Worship), the Westminster Confession of Faith (including the Larger and Shorter Catechisms), and the document Essentials of Our Faith. All these documents are subordinate to Scripture, which is “the supreme and final authority” on all matters on which it speaks.
On Sunday, September 12, 2010, the San Francisco Presbytery called a meeting with the CPC Congregation to determine by vote whether or not CPC desires to request dismissal from the Presbytery of San Francisco, PC(USA), and affiliate with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. On that date 95.4% of CPC’s voting members voted in favor of dismissal, exceeding the 75% required for the resolution to pass. Click here to see the results.

CPC's Position Statements on Key Points
Losing sight of their clear, Christ-centered identity, strong factions in the PCUSA are increasingly conforming to and embracing the beliefs and morals of our culture. This has caused a denominational drift on theological, moral, and political issues. We grieve that our General Assembly has taken some actions which we are diametrically opposed to and therefore, feel it is important to emphasize our commitment to the following positions.
