SEND International - Gardner & Rebecca Kerin– Siberia
Hi, we're the Kerins and are long-term missionaries with SEND International. After studying language in Far East Russia for 14 months, we moved to Ulan Ude, Siberia in October, 2004 to complete our studies and begin church planting along side the national church. We live in the Republic of Buryatia, where religion consists of a mix of Tibetan Buddhism, Shamanism, folk religion, Russian Orthodoxy and atheism. We enjoy our Russian and Buryat friends and neighbors and look forward to the plans God has for our time here. We’re excited about opportunities to use English classes/clubs, camps, Bible studies, youth and student groups, short-term teams and outdoors ministries to reach people for Christ. There are so many opportunities - and yet a great deal of obstacles needing to be overcome as well. We’re honored to be able to serve the Lord over here and continue looking to Him for guidance and wisdom.
Here’s a little bit more about ourselves…..We’re from the west coast and have lived near San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle. After coming to know the Lord as a college student at CPC, Gardner worked with the high school and young adult ministries before moving to Southern CA where he completed his bachelor's degree and M.Div from Biola and Talbot School of Theology in May, 2000. We met each other at Biola University in Southern CA and were married July 18, 1998.Rebecca graduated from Biola with a B.A. in education and taught fourth grade for a couple of years while completing her TESOL certificate. Rebecca’s teaching background has been a wonderful asset in our ministry here. Our first son Andrew was born June 2, 2002, our daughter Katie was born April 23, 2002 and Matthew was born April 27, 2004 during a short time in America.
Our desire is for our kids to be able to attend Russian schools and learn the language here well. Andrew has already started attending pre-school and we’ll be stateside every other summer to keep our kids from missing too many Russian classes. We’re so grateful for how God is taking care of our family and for the encouragement and support from friends, family and ministry partners back home. www.coldkerins.com
