Comments from past attendees:
- It really helped me pinpoint my issues. I definitely will recommend it
to others.
- It helps with skills needed every day and causes one to examine one-self
more closely.
- Yes, [I’d recommend the class] because learning to handle conflict
in a Christ like way is so important so that Christ’s presence in our
lives may be reflected.
- Wish I could have had this class in middle school.
What is Peacemakers?
CPC Peacemakers are congregation members who are recruited and trained to
provide assistance in conflict resolution and the reconciliation of relationships.
We believe that as Christians we are called to respond to conflict in a way
that is remarkably different from the way the world deals with conflict.
We are committed to using biblical principles of conflict resolution with
the goal of the reconciliation of relationships. By God’s grace, we apply these principles as a matter of stewardship, remembering that success in God’s
eyes is a matter of faithful, dependent obedience.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Rom 12:18
How does it work?
The assistance of CPC Peacemakers: A Ministry of Reconciliation may be requested by an involved/interested party. When a request is made, a brief confidential telephone interview will take place with a member of the Peacemaker leadership team. Following that interview you will be contacted by a trained Peacemaker Coach.
If you have questions please email them to Peacemakers@cpcdanville.org or call the voice mail at 925-855-1367 x 8551.
How can I get help?
To request the assistance of this confidential lay ministry, call 855-1367 x 8551. Someone will be in touch with you within 48 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where do I learn more about Peacemakers?
Take a class; learn the principles and skills to mend your broken relationship. Check the CPC Courier or give us a call to find out when the next Peacemakers class is available. In addition, Peacemakers are available to make special presentations to Ministry teams and other groups.
The CPC bookstore has The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict by Ken Sande, and the CPC Library has the book plus videotapes.
2. How is Peacemakers different from what is done by the Counseling Center or the Stephen Ministry?
The Peacemaker Ministry is in harmony with the Counseling Center and the Stephen Ministry. The focus of CPC Peacemakers is on the reconciliation of conflict and the restoration of relationships. It is possible that an individual may be simultaneously working with a Peacemaker coach and the Counseling Center or a Stephen Minister. We may refer to one another.
3. What do you mean by "biblically"?
The Peacemakers: A Ministry of Reconciliation is based on God's Word and a deep desire to honor God by using the reconciling love and power of Jesus Christ. See 1 Cor. 10:31, Matthew 7:5, Galatians 6:1, Matthew 5:23-24, Matthew 18:15-17.
