Dear CPC,
Ben Joyce has accepted God's call to plant churches in the Bay Area with Soma communities and will be leaving CPC, the PCUSA and the EPC on April 1, 2012. Our Session affirms God's call on Ben to interdenominational church planting and the establishment of a Soma Communities Church in the San Ramon Valley.
Also, we encourage people at CPC who feel so led to join Ben in this mission as we give our blessing and celebrate the growing of the Kingdom! CPC and Ben share a passion for people meeting Christ in the San Ramon Valley and beyond. For this reason CPC will provide support to this effort as a Mission Partner for 24 months.
CPC has been a great blessing to Ben and Ben has been a blessing to CPC. We will continue to have a relationship with Ben, this new church, and the Soma Church planting movement.
For more information, check out the www.somasrv.org website and attend the vision sessions with Ben in the chapel at 10:45 on January 29, February 5 and 12. We will commission Ben and those joining him on March 25 coinciding with Ben's final sermon. We will also hold a congregational meeting after the 10:45 service to accept Ben's resignation.
Prayerfully,
Scott Farmer
Letter from Ben Joyce
Dear CPC Family, The last seven and a half years have been such a blessing. Becky and I arrived as a young couple just starting off in ministry and we are being sent out as a family of four who have found great joy in serving Jesus with our lives. CPC is home for us. I can’t put into words how hard it is to step away from being a pastor at this congregation. We are deeply grateful for the friendships we have at CPC and the example of godly ministry that has been modeled for us day in and day out. It is only because God has made His calling irresistibly clear to us that we are now following him on a new journey, planting Soma San Ramon Valley (www.somasrv.org) and equipping churches around the Bay Area to form missional communities. We are grateful that God has kept us in Danville so that we can continue in our relationship with CPC and partner together to reach this valley for Jesus. We will be around town, so we will see you regularly. I will also be preaching occasionally at CPC (the last weekends in May and August are already lined up). I look forward to exchanging stories of how God is working in our lives and in this valley.
Blessings,
The Joyces
