Questions for Sermon on
January 16-17

Thank you for joining us in our study of Luke. Our prayer is that each of you will follow the weekly readings and join together with others to discuss the questions sent to you each week in this email.  Look for our emails each Monday in preparation for the upcoming sermon the following weekend. For a PDF (printable) version of the Questions click here.

Our hope is that you will see God working in your life and in others around you and you will be able to take your next step in following Jesus.

The sermon this weekend, January 16/17 will be on Mark 10:13-16. (There is no reading assignment in Luke for Everyone.) The questions below are to be used for your small group meeting that relates to this sermon.

1. How is God changing your life?

2. Think back to when you were young. How has your views and impressions of God changed since you were a kid?

OBSERVE
3. In verse 13 we see adults bringing little children to be blessed by Jesus and the disciples responded as if this were not entirely appropriate. Why do you think the disciples saw this as something to correct instead of something to encourage?

4. As you think about our life together today do you see places in the church where it might not be appropriate for adults to bring children? Where is the right place for children to be touched by Jesus in our church?

5. Read verses 14 to 16. The disciples’ response to the situation deeply troubled Jesus. How did the disciples misread the situation and misread Jesus’ heart in this instance

6. What exactly do you think Jesus meant when he said, ‘the kingdom of God belongs to such as these’?

7. How does Jesus expect us to receive the kingdom like a little child? What is that supposed to look like for us today?

8. What is your next step in following Jesus?

9. Who could you help take their next step in following Jesus?
