Small Groups Ministry

We will begin another All-Church study on February 15. To get the most from this study, get connected with a small group. Many small groups are forming and will meet for just the 5 weeks of the study. Consider a short-term small group. Sign up in the church lobby and in the Courtyard after the worship servcies. You may also contact the Director of Small Group Ministries, Terry Campbell, terry@cpcdanville.org, or 837-5525 x319.

Luke for Everyone

Questions for Sermon on
January 30-31

Thank you for joining us in our study of Luke. Our prayer is that each of you will follow the weekly readings and join together with others to discuss the questions sent to you each week in this email.  Look for our emails each Monday in preparation for the upcoming sermon the following weekend. For a PDF (printable) version of the Questions click here.

Our hope is that you will see God working in your life and in others around you and you will be able to take your next step in following Jesus.

Following Jesus . . . Makes People Look Different
Luke 18

The sermon this weekend, January 30-31, is titled “Following Jesus . . . Makes People Look Different” and will be on Luke 18. The questions below are to be used for your small group meeting that relates to this sermon.

1. How is God changing your life?

OBSERVE
2. In this study you will see the sweep of six vignettes Luke offers packed into one chapter. Read the entire chapter aloud, each person reading one verse in rotation, then together note the themes common to all vignettes.

3. For each section, what contrasts do you see between how Jesus sees people and how “the world” (represented by various individuals) sees these same people:

1) vv. 1-8 The Persistent Widow
2) vv. 9-14 The Pharisee and the Tax Collector
3. vv.15-17 The Little Children
4. vv. 18-30 The Rich Ruler
5. vv. 35-42 A Blind Beggar
6. vv. 31-34 Jesus

REFLECT
4. What is the good news of the gospel for you in light of these vignettes?

5. What fundamental difference does the gospel make in how a Christ-follower will look at people?

ACT
6. Can you identify at least one person or group of people whom you can better see with Christ-following eyes?

7. What is your next step in following Jesus in relation to that person or those people?

8. Who could you help to take their next step in following Jesus?
