Pastor Led Experience

Many of you are enjoying the sermon and study series The Reason for God. Our prayer for you is to reflect on this series and how it has deepened your Christian faith and enabled you to better express the Christian faith.

The Pastoral staff would like to help you take the next step and provide you with a venue to invite non-believers to explore the questions raised in The Reason for God. Pastors Scott Farmer, Mark Wollan, Cathy Burkholder, Bill Haslim and Dick Sanner will each host a six-week study after Easter.

We encourage each of you to give prayerful consideration to joining a friend or family member for this unique experience.

What is a "small group?"

Small groups consist of 6 to 12 people who meet regularly to study the Bible, share their lives, pray for one another, and serve Christ together. Groups are facilitated by a member of the group, or the responsibility is shared by all. Facilitator training sessions are held during the year to help equip people for leadership of a group or to prepare for a study.

What kinds of groups are available?

People in some groups are similar as to age and life-stage. Other groups are what we call “mixed”, with couples and singles of different ages. Some groups are based on affinity, such as being in the choir, having children of similar age, or living in the same neighborhood. One main factor in choosing a group is your time availability.

We love to encourage people to form their own groups based on their interest. We can help with facilitator training and resources. Many groups have been formed during Next Step Membership classes. We believe anyone at CPC who desires to be part of a small group community will find just the right fit. It is possible to change groups as your needs change.

How do I get connected to a small group or start my own?

We have over eighty groups now and are always looking to form new ones. During the fall and spring, we have a time for group sign-ups and post the open groups on the web site. At other times you may also contact Small Groups Ministries to be connected with a small group.

We truly believe strength, growth and stability in life come from “knowing and being known, celebrating and being celebrated, serving and being served, loving and being loved,” which is possible by participating in small groups. Life is better in community!
