The Open Door Gospel Communities for the Good of the Community
“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” (Colossians 4:3-4)

What is the Purpose of The Open Door?
The purpose of The Open Door is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who would never darken the door of a church by equipping believers to be the church in their neighborhoods and workplaces |
The Open Door is comprised of communities transformed by the gospel and God’s mission. Each group is continually being shaped by their identity as:
- God's People-Community
- Saved by God's Power-Salvation
- For God's Purposes-Mission
What are the priorties of Open Door?
Gospel
Participants in The Open Door believe the good news that through his life, death, and resurrection Jesus won salvation for all who trust in him and has ushered in a new era in which the power of God is newly available for the transformation of all of life and creation. They view this good news as central to all aspects of their life and community. It is not something they believe and then move beyond, but rather is the key for faithful living in all aspects of the Christian life. The gospel is both for salvation and for transformation; it is both our motivation in reaching non-believers and our message; it is the truth with which we counsel one another and the truth that shapes all aspects of Christian community. Knowing, believing, embracing, and embodying the gospel is central to this ministry.
Mission
Participants in The Open Door believe that God is carrying out a plan, a mission, to reconcile all people to himself and renew all of creation. He is a missionary God and his followers are a missionary people who see themselves as sent by God to lost people and a broken world in order to participate in God’s reconciling and renewing work. Participants in The Open Door see themselves as missionaries, their homes as missionary outposts, and their neighborhoods and workplaces as the mission field to which they are called. They will view God’s mission as a priority over their own comfort. Because of the missional aspect of The Open Door, people who don’t know Jesus will experience the church as a community that gathers in their own neighborhood or workplace rather than in a building they have no intention of entering.
Community
God’s plan from the beginning has been to create a community of people. When he created human beings, he made them to be in relationship with Him and with one another. After the Fall, he initiated his plan to set apart a people, a community, for Himself, saved by His grace, and sent out into the world to join Him in his mission to restore and reconcile all things to Himself. The Open Door seeks to foster communities that embody the Good News of Jesus Christ and participate in the Mission of Christ. These are communities that love God, love one another, and love the world around them.
Replication
Participants in The Open Door are equipped to make disciples who make disciples, acknowledging that a key aspect of true discipleship is reproduction. Participants in The Open Door are also committed to replicating their Open Door Groups by sending out leaders to begin new groups that share in a common mission. The Open Door is committed to continuing this individual and small group replication process until the San Ramon Valley is saturated with Christ-followers who are centered in the gospel, connected to community, and sent out on mission for the glory of God
