What is Going Deeper?
Going Deeper is a small group experience in spiritual growth in which you will:

bullet DEEPEN your relationship with God
bullet EXPLORE spiritual practices that will help you mature over a lifetime
bullet RECEIVE the guidance of the Holy Spirit through scripture, prayer, and community
bullet DEVELOP friendships that are a source of love, encouragement and support
bullet DISCOVER your gifts and God’s calling on your life

 

 

 

 



Who is it for?
Anyone who would like a deeper faith, deeper friendships, and a deeper sense of God’s call on their life. You may join as a small group and make the journey together, or you may join as an individual and be placed with a small group of people with whom you will share the journey.

What will I do in Going Deeper?
Going Deeper has two main components: daily time with God and a weekly gathering.

For the duration of each course, you will spend approximately 20 minutes each day in reading, prayer, and journaling, as you walk through the Daily Exercises. These readings and exercises form the basis for discussion at the Gatherings.

The group gatherings are once a week during each course. At the weekly gathering, there will be instruction, group sharing, and Deeper Explorations which are individual and group spiritual practices. The Gatherings are 2 hours long.

What is the content of Going Deeper?

Session I: Embracing the Journey
Discover the purpose of the Christian life and the important roll that spiritual disciplines and close Christian friendships play in becoming more like Christ.

Session II: Feeding on the Word
Develop a love for God’s Word and learn new ways of receiving his guidance through scripture.

Session III: Deepening our Prayer
Deepen your relationship with God by exploring various forms and styles of prayer.

Session IV: Summer Reading

Session V: Discovering our Gifts and Calling
Discover your God-given gifts and how you can experience the fruits of the Holy Spirit in your own life.

Session VI: Living According to God’s Call
Take practical steps toward living according to God’s unique purposes for your life.

How long is the Going Deeper journey?
Going Deeper is a 33-week discipleship journey that is spread out over 18 months. Why so long? Maturity takes time. Typically, you will meet for 6-8 weeks in a row, then take several weeks off, as well as summer. A typical journey looks like this:

Childcare Reimbursement
 Going Deeper will be offering a partial reimbursement to support families needing to hire babysitters in order to attend the sessions. Please fill out the Babysitting Reimbursement Form.
